HOLT, Fla., Sept. 12, 2019—The National Hurricane Center issued its first tropical advisory on the system over the Bahamas at its 5 p.m. update.
Soon-to-be tropical depression nine or Tropical Storm Humberto is expected to appear in the next day or so, according to the NHC.
The system has been nearly stationary over southeastern Bahamas, but is expected to move slowly toward the northwest by early Friday.
It is anticipated to move across the Bahamas Friday and along or over the east coast of Florida Saturday.
The majority of the forecast models develop a tropical system near the northwestern Bahamas and show it moving as an intensifying system very close to the east coast of Florida.
The disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm and bring tropical-storm-force winds and rain to portions of the northwest Bahamas within 36 hours and to portions of the Florida east coast during the weekend.
As a result, advisories have been initiated on Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine.
