EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla., Dec. 4, 2019–An Eglin Air Force Base bomb drop Thursday is expected to cause a loud noise in the area.
An F-15E Strike Eagle from the 85th Test and Evaluation Squadron is schedule to release live munitions on Range B-82 tomorrow between 8 a.m. and noon.
The munitions will cause a loud boom in the surrounding Eglin and Hurlburt Field area.
Area B-82 is west of State Road 85 and north of Eglin’s Roberts Pond management area, approximately 12-to-13 miles south of Galliver Cutoff and U.S. 90.
The 85th TES is dropping the live munitions to test the FMU-139D/B bomb fuse system, the newest joint-programmable fuse designed to eventually be used in smart weapons employed by both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy.
