Laurel Hill man dead after traffic accident

CRESTVIEW, Fla., Dec. 4, 2019—A Laurel Hill man died in a two-car accident on North Ferdon Boulevard in Crestview today.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Michael Gambert, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency response personnel after his northbound Dodge Ram truck crossed into the southbound lanes at Prospect Road and hit a car headed in the opposite direction.

Crestview resident Randall Teal, 64, was headed southbound in the outside lane when Gambert’s truck crossed the traffic lanes and struck the left rear end of his Audi A4.

The impact caused Teal’s car to jump the curb and hit a guide wire.

Teal was not injured in the accident.

After hitting Teal’s car, Gambert’s truck sped up, jumped the curb and struck a sign before hitting a tree head-on.

Both men were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, according to the release.

A third vehicle, an unoccupied Chevy Silverado parked in a private driveway, was struck by flying debris from the sign Gambert hit.

According to the release, it’s unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor of the crash.
