Saturday I-10 traffic stop yields drugs

HOLT, Fla., Feb. 3, 2020—An Interstate 10 traffic stop west of Holt Feb. 1 resulted in two arrests for drug trafficking.

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper stopped a Kia for speeding eastbound near mile marker 40 in Santa Rosa County around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. It was clocked at 95 mph.

After identifying the occupants as Ian Christian Simmons and Joshua Michael Reinhardt, both 34 and from Orlando, the trooper realized there was an active probation violation arrest warrant from Orange County for Reinhardt and called for backup.

When a Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit arrived, K-9 Prince alerted to the presence of drugs.

A search uncovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Found were:

  • 75 grams of methamphetamine
  • 1.36 kilogram of GHB
  • 1 gram of cocaine
  • 3.6 grams of fentanyl
  • 15 MDMA tablets
  • Drug paraphernalia

Both men were charged with amphetamine trafficking, drug trafficking, drug possession, possession of drug equipment and opium distribution.

They are in custody in the Santa Rosa County Jail.
