
HOLT, Fla., Sept. 14, 2020—A traffic accident on Okaloosa Island killed one man and injured a woman from Baker last night closing all four lanes of U.S. 98 for a number of hours.
A third car driven by a Holt man was also involved in the accident, but received no injuries.
According to an accident report by the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of an SUV traveling east on U.S. 98 lost control of his vehicle which hit the sand in the median between the east- and westbound highway lanes.
The SUV crossed into the westbound lanes, hitting a sedan driven by a 36-year-old woman from Baker.
Her car then collided with an SUV driven by the man from Holt.
The Baker woman suffered serious injuries. The Holt man, 42, had no injuries.
The 34-year-old male driver of the eastbound SUV, who was from Biloxi, died in the crash.
There were no passengers in any of the three vehicles.
None of the drivers were identified in the accident report.
