HOLT, Fla., Sept. 5, 2021—Periods of heavy rain are expected to continue across portions of northwest Florida this afternoon through tomorrow.
Showers and storms could produce very heavy rain at times which could exacerbate the already saturated ground and lead to additional flash flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.
Some regions of the forecast area have already received 4 to nearly 10 inches of rain, especially across northwest Florida.
Additional rainfall amounts of 3-to-6 inches are possible with locally higher amounts in areas where showers and storms repeatedly move across the same areas.
A flood watch is in effect through tomorrow evening due to likely widespread and significant flooding, according to the NWS.
The Shoal River in Crestview is expected to crest at 8.7 feet by Thursday evening before returning to below flood stage Saturday morning.
