MILTON, Fla., Jan. 22, 2022—A 74-year-old woman was transported to the hospital after she sped past two Florida Highway Patrol troopers on U.S. Highway 90 today.
FHP troopers were traveling west on Hwy 90 near Paddle Wheel Drive around 12:45 p.m. when a silver Honda Pilot, also traveling west, came up behind them at a high rate of speed, according to an FPH news release.
The Honda passed the first trooper, who hit his lights and siren to make a traffic stop. Ignoring the FHP, the SUV then passed the second trooper.
The second FHP began pursuing the fleeing Honda and initiated a PIT maneuver which ended the chase just west of State Road 87.
The SUV driver was taken into custody and appeared to be confused, saying she was heading home to Malone, Fla., a community north of Marianna, just south of the Alabama state line, according to the release.
Santa Rosa EMS responded to the scene and transported the driver to Santa Rosa Medical Center for observation.
Criminal charges by the State’s Attorney’s Office are pending.
