HOLT, Fla., May 20, 2019–The first named storm of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season showed up today.
Subtropical Storm Andrea is located in the western Atlantic southwest of Bermuda.
An Air Force Hurricane Hunter mission this afternoon found a well-defined center of the subtropical system.
Forecast models indicate Andrea will move toward the northeast and away from the United States.
The official start of the 2019 season begins June 1, 12 days away.
