HOLT, Fla., Aug. 22, 2019–The National Hurricane Center expects the low-pressure system in the Bahamas to become a tropical system sometime during the next few days.
The system has become a little better organized since Wednesday, according to the NHC, and is now at a 50 percent chance of further development with a tropical depression possibly forming during the weekend or early next week.
Environmental conditions are favorable as the system moves near the east coast of Florida and the United States.
Hurricane tracks favor the system to remain in the Atlantic Ocean.
Should a tropical system form, it will be named Dorian.
Tropical Depression Chantal, meanwhile, is expected to weaken into a remnant low Friday night.
