OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla., May 7, 2026—Two men were injured in a head-on collision on Interstate 10 around 10 a.m. today.
Both drivers, a 54-year-old Mobile resident traveling west, and a 71-year-old from South Carolina traveling east, were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
According to the release, a westbound tractor trailer crossed the center median, colliding head-on with an eastbound rig. The cause of the westbound semi crossing the median was undetermined.
The crash sent one semi over the guardrail while the other one sat perpendicular to the direction of travel, blocking both lanes.

The accident closed both eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic.
In an effort to clear the vehicles stopped behind the accident site, westbound traffic was stopped while eastbound traffic was allowed to conduct U-turns across the center median.

As of 4:30 p.m., a 13-mile stretch of I-10 eastbound is still closed from mile marker 56 to 70 with traffic being diverted at Crestview to U.S. Highway 90.
Eastbound traffic is backed up nearly 9 miles to around mile marker 48.
