Nate makes landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi
Hurricane Nate made landfall at the mouth of the Mississippi River. The storm travels over water again en route to the Mississippi Gulf coast. And the area is under at tornado watch until 2 a.m.
Nate weakens to category one storm
Hurricane Nate has weakened to a category one storm. Tropical-storm-force winds extend mainly toward the east side of the storm.

Nate’s track shifts slightly west
Hurricane Nate strengthened during the night. Still moving at 22 mph, the storm is packing 85-mph winds which could reach 90 mph by landfall tonight.
