OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla., June 20, 2026—Recent rainfall due to remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur is causing flooding in the Okaloosa County area.

Rivers, creeks, bridges, roadways and low-lying areas are underwater or are in danger of becoming flooded in many places due to the heavy rains.

Additionally, another 1-2 inches of rain is possible today, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.

Flooding for the Yellow River is expected to be minor, cresting to 13.1 feet sometime Monday. The Shoal River is expected to crest to 8.6 feet tomorrow afternoon. And the Blackwater River is forecast to crest to 17.3 feet early tomorrow morning.

Due to the forecast flooding of the Blackwater River, the county has opened a “just in time” shelter for those people needing to escape from rising waters. There will be very minimal services available such as food service and other amenities during this short period of time.
